Snow of mountains

We have had a mild winter here around the river Gaula.
But it was very cold in May and the snow lay thick on the top of mountains.

今季のガウラは暖冬で雪が少なく、反対に５月が冷え込み、源流帯に結構な雪が降って帳尻を合わせたんだそう。
お陰で解禁はめでたく水温が５度を下回るハイウォーターとなり、解禁らしい状況になったというわけ。
