The Opening Day of 2010; Late-coming Spring
Seasonal changes have been delayed for a month here in Norway, too. There are still fresh green leaves around Gaula and snow-melting season will be continuing.
The fishing season was open in Gaula at 0 a.m. June 1, as usual, in spite of a month’s delay of seasonal changes of this year.
The very moment of the opening was just the peak of high water of 350m3/sec. The river started decreasing from 4 a.m. and rising again from 3 p.m. We had dreamed of a cheerful atmosphere of the opening day with a lot of salmon coming upstream but in vain. The river has been terribly calm.
The temperature in the daytime became much higher than it had been expected. Tomorrow we will have terrible high water.
